My journey back to the fields.

Welcome!
A wise man once said:

Don't ask yourself what the world needs,
ask yourself what makes you come alive
and then go and do that
because what the world needs is more people who come alive.

The answer is simple:
Flowers.
It's always been flowers.

I used to play with the flowers outside in my mothers garden as if each one had its own personality. Living among the roses and gladiolus as if they could communicate with me.
I used to arrange beds of petals for fairies to rest on when they got tired.
I made my home among them all.

And I was happy.

Finding my way back to the flowers was a different story.
I got stuck for years in the idea that making the world a more beautiful place in such as simple way wasn't enough.
I told myself that the world need more social workers, more educators...
and while those are all true and I could do those things for the rest of my life and feel great about the fact that I am helping others besides me.

Nothing makes me come alive more than playing with flowers.

The look on someones face when they stop and smell a bloom.
The way that one small flower can have an extraordinary impact on someones day.
The way that a dozen red roses can makes someone swoon.
The way that arranging flowers gives way to one of the most romantic and holistic sites.
The way that flowers are common around the world, and share meanings and connections cross-culturally.
The way that growing your own flower can make you feel full of personal power.

I am sure that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
I have never been more sure of something.

But, this journey is just beginning.
And so this blog will help explore my adventure back into the fields.
So that, hopefully, I can allow you to witness and make tangible to those of you who may or may not have a similar dream to mine
what it feels, and looks like when I come alive.
xoxo
Enjoy my blooms.
